I was sad to read the news of Shirley's death. She and John were such dear colleagues and friends during my time in Undergraduate Admissions at Cornell. John was a mentor to all of 'kids' who joined the admissions staff in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He taught us what it was to represent our beloved alma mater and to build professional connections across the state, if not the country. Shirley was such a partner to him throughout the decades together. I also admired her commitment to Kappa Delta for so many many years. Together, they left such a mark on this community. Both of them are missed.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We can always remember the comforting words promised at Revelation 21:4 where it says, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” No doubt we look forward to this time Jehovah promises and I hope that this scripture can bring you comfort during this difficult time.
