Obituary of Betty Jane Longiotti

Betty C. Longiotti, 83 of Chapel Hill passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer.

A long time Chapel Hill resident, she hailed from the New Lyme Township in Ohio and graduated Thiel College with honors.  She began her teaching career in Ohio and Pennsylvania before relocating to Chapel Hill, where she taught AP level courses in Math and English in Chapel Hill / Carrboro school systems during the late 1960’s and 70’s. 

Always active and creative, she was known as an accomplished crafts woman who taught flower arrangement, needlepoint and various crafts.  She is best remembered for her jewelry creations and one of a kind beaded Christmas trees which were displayed during her annual holiday home shows. 

A faithful member of University Presbyterian Church, she volunteered her time selflessly contributing to Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Council and serving as a Stephen Minister. 

She is survived by her son Keith Longiotti, daughter-in-law Juliana C. Longiotti and grandson Keith Longiotti, Jr.
