Obituary of Brian Thomas Irving

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brian Irving, of Hillsborough NC, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 due to complications of metastatic melanoma at the age of 45. He loved life and the people he held close. He valued family and friends above all else. Brian was always the first to lend a helping hand and never stopped until the job was complete.

His dreams may not have been large by some estimations, but he achieved every single one of them. His goal in life was to get married, have a family, live on a big piece of land in the woods and be able to take care of his family. In his career, he loved the challenge of research and development in his chosen field of Power Electronics and his persistence always was rewarded by success. Many people loved working with him and respected his intellect, talent and ability to share his knowledge with others. He was very proud of his body of work and the patents he earned.  Brian was truly the best of men.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lauren, his daughters Hannah and Rachel, his parents, Herb and Elaine Irving, his sister, Nicole Irving Kehoe, with her husband Owen and their children Caroline, Fiona, Thomas and Cillian, his sister Susan Irving McDade with her husband Jason and son Ethan, and many aunts, uncles and cousins in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Hannah and Rachel's NC 529 college fund (participant: Brian Irving, beneficiary: Hannah Irving and participant: Brian Irving, beneficiary: Rachel Irving). If you would like to contribute online, please use this link and the funds will be divided between the two girls.

Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborugh is in charge of the arrangements
