Obituary of Jean Workman Ferguson

Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Workman Ferguson, 84, died October 12, 2018.  She was born in Durham to the late Johnny and Mary Workman, and attended the Durham schools. 

Mrs. Workman worked at Wrights Machinery which became Sperry Rand from 1950's-1990's.  Today a devout Christian, a loving mother, friend, wife, and grandmother, met her reward.  To be remembered for her love of the Lord, her family and friends.  She was a member of a loving community for which time she dedicated her time as a scout leader and Sunday school teacher for many years.  Her home was a gathering place for many.  Dedicated to church events, school and time with her family.  Her "front porch wisdom" will be cherished by those who were blessed to be a part of.  Thank you Mom, Granny, and friend for pouring your great love and wisdom into our lives by being the example of the love of our Heavenly Father.

Surviving are two daughters:  Johnsie Sowder and husband David Sowder, and Debbie Foote and husband Randy Foote; one son, Mike Conner and wife Angie Conner; and eight grandchildren. 

In addition to her poarents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, William (Bill) Matthews, Robert Matthews, John Workman and three husbands, Bill Williams, Russ Conner, and Walter (Dub) Ferguson.

A funeral service was held Monday, October 15, 2018 ai 2:30 PM in New Hope Church, Hillsborough.  Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery. 

The Ferguson family is under the care of Walker's Funeral home of Hillsborough.
