Obituary of Kenneth George Kranz

Chapel Hill - Mr. Kenneth G. Kranz, husband of Mary Ellen Kranz, died Wednesday afternoon at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

 

Ken was born April 10, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late George Herbert and Elizabeth Faunce Kranz.  He was raised in Riverton, NJ and Delran, NJ, and was educated at Holy Cross High School.  He attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, graduating in 1965.  Mr. Kranz served his country in the US Army, stationed in Ft. Drum, NY.  After being honorably discharged, he was employed by Larsen Boats and later, Hatteras Yachts, in their marketing departments.  After retiring from marketing, Mr. Kranz was employed by H & R Block, assisting people with the tax preparation.  Ken had a passion for boating, and enjoyed his summers with his family and friends in Belfast, ME.  He was a very skilled woodworker, having built several pieces of fine furniture.

 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kranz is survived by his sons, Matthew K. Kranz, of Denver, CO, Peter G. Kranz, and his wife, Natalie, of Cary, NC, Andrew D. Kranz, and his wife, Jennifer, of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Roman, Bennett, Eleanor, Catherine (Kate), Max, Anna, Alex; brother, Richard Kranz, and his wife, Deborah, of Mt. Laurel, NJ; and his sister, Anita Kranz, of Marlton, NJ.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Fr. Chris Koehn presiding. Mr. Kranz was buried at Wake Memorial Park.
