To the family of Dr. Dobbins:
I did not know Jim, but I knew his mother, Lila, and the good reputation of his father in the UNC Chemistry Department. I am one of his Yadkin County cousins. When I lived on West Cameron Avenue in 1968-1969, I was in my senior year at Carolina. I walked by Lila's home every time I went to and from classes. We struck up a conversation and got acquainted. She was familiar with my family in Yadkinville and her relatives in Yadkinville were familiar with her and Dr. Dobbins. I am grateful that I took the time to get to know her. I am glad that your family moved to Chapel Hill and made a valuable contribution to the University. My thoughts and prayers are with you during these times.
