To the family of Dr. Dobbins: I did not know Jim, but I knew his mother, Lila, and the good reputation of his father in the UNC Chemistry Department. I am one of his Yadkin County cousins. When I lived on West Cameron Avenue in 1968-1969, I was in my senior year at Carolina. I walked by Lila's home every time I went to and from classes. We struck up a conversation and got acquainted. She was familiar with my family in Yadkinville and her relatives in Yadkinville were familiar with her and Dr. Dobbins. I am grateful that I took the time to get to know her. I am glad that your family moved to Chapel Hill and made a valuable contribution to the University. My thoughts and prayers are with you during these times.

Mike and Cheryl send their love and fond memories of visits with Dr. Dobbins. He and his lovely wife and their sons James and Steven welcomed us into their family when Mike and I got married. We have many nice memories of dinners and visits. We send our prayers and much love to the Dobbins family.
