Obituary of Marie Grubb Walker

Prospect Hill, NC—Marie Grubb Walker of Prospect Hill, NC, passed away on July 20, 2018 at the home. 

Marie Walker was born in Alamance County, to her parents, Frank and Edith S. Grubb, both deceased. She was married for 52 years to Tommy H. Walker, who survives. After years of working in the textile industry and as a CNA, Marie enjoyed being a homemaker. Her greatest pleasures were being “Granny” and showing love to her family. She enjoyed attending her church and camp meetings as well as attending revival services as her health would allow. She especially enjoyed being a part of the Burlington Revival.

In addition to her husband, Marie is also survived by her children: Becky Amash (John) of Burlington; Renee McIntyre (Mark) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Thomas Walker (Joy) of Burlington, NC; Grandchildren: Andrew Amash of Burlington; Erika Amash of Snow Camp; Chelsea W. Newcomer of Snow Camp, NC, Brandon McIntyre of Clemson, SC; Dusty Walker of Burlington, NC; Sammy McIntyre of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Charlie King of Burlington; Great-Grandchildren: Jon-Austen Amash, Brayden Amash and Rylan Amash. Marie is also survived by a brother, Charlie F. Grubb, Jr (Mary) of Prospect Hill, NC. 

A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the New Hope Baptist Church, located at 1525 Flora Avenue in Burlington with Preacher Randy Hobbs officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alamance County Baptist Camp Meeting c/o New Hope Baptist Church, PO Box 4246, Burlington NC 27215.
