Obituary of Robert Terry Woods

Robert Terry Woods,  died peacefully at UNC Chapel Hill on Thursday, January 18, 2018 surrounded by  family and friends at the age of  70.  He was a lifelong resident of Orange County and  business owner of Woods Brothers, Inc. and Surety Storage. Terry was a motivated, generous and positive person to be around and he  applied his zeal to all aspects of life. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and friends and took pride in the business he worked so hard to build. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend to all who loved him. He will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Yates Woods, his 2 daughters and their spouses: Leslie Ruth Woods and  spouse Lisa Brandenburg,  Erika Oakley and husband Shane; 2 grandchildren: Leah and Samuel Oakley; 3 stepchildren and their spouses: Jon Merritt and wife Tracy, Troy Merritt and wife Lori and Jennifer Merritt Depew and husband Jim and step grand-children, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford Henry Woods, Mary Ruth Cook Woods brothers: John Michael Woods, Edwin Kirk Woods and sister Joyce Woods Taylor. 

A memorial service was held at 3:00pm on Monday, January 22, 2018 in Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel, Hillsborough.  Visitation was from 1:00pm-3:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 5510 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC  27615.
