Rose “Kitty” Moschowsky Kiehart passed away on November 24, 2017 at home surrounded by family, a little more than two months shy of her 101st birthday.
Born January 31, 1917 in New York City, she attended Manhattan public schools and graduated as an RN from New Rochelle School of Nursing. She married Paul Peter Kiehart in 1940. She was a successful registered, surgical nurse at New Rochelle Hospital and Manhattan Eye and Ear and was a sought after assistant for surgeries throughout the Hudson Valley.
She raised a family on Long Island while she managed her husband’s business and later returned to nursing. She and Paul retired to New Hartford, Connecticut where she earned an Associate in Science degree with General Studies at age 68 and became a passionate fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball. After her husband’s death she split her time between Connecticut and her son’s home in Chapel Hill, NC.
A loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, she lives on in the memory of her son Daniel, his wife, Patricia and grandsons Peter of Paris, France, and Michael of Durham, NC; her sister, Helen Sudora of Englewood, FL; and cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
