Obituary of Levi Shelton Henderson

Levi Shelton Henderson Chapel Hill--- On Saturday, Dec 7th, Levi Shelton Henderson completed his earthly duties and was called to be with his Heavenly Father. He was the founder and CEO of The Shrunken Head Boutique on Franklin Street for 44 years. Shelton left this life peacefully in his home with his wife and four children by his bedside. He was born on Oct 25, 1933 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to Lillan and Raymond Henderson of Jacksonville, N.C. Shelton established what many now call the "Meca of Tarheel apparel" store known as The Shrunken Head Boutique in Chapel Hill in 1969 and permanently moved his family to Chapel Hill in 1972 To the legions of Shrunken Head faithful and all who knew him, Shelton was a daily fixture inside the store greeting every customer with his chacteristic million dollar smile and his warm handshake. He made every customer feel like THEY were the reason him open the store that day. . In addition to his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Edna Chadwick Henderson, he leaves behind four loving children; Genny H. Wrenn, Keith Henderson, Lisa H. Floyd, and Teresa H. Lindsay as well as 7 grandchildren. On behalf of Shelton, the family would like to recognize and thank the staff of the Shrunken Head for their loyal support and genuine love for Shelton and the entire family. In addition, the family extends a special heart felt thanks to Jennifer Evans, Shelton's In-home care giver, for her undying dedication and relentless compassion………you are truly a blessing.
