Obituary of Marvin Forrest Rogers

MEBANE - Mr. Marvin "Uncle Marvin" Rogers, 97, passed to be with his Lord Wednesday, December 25, 2013. A native of Northern Orange County, he was the son of the late Ira Stambre and Bessie Wilkerson Rogers. He was a retired farmer who spent his life loving his family and farming. Prior to that he served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a life long member and Deacon of Mt. Adar Baptist Church and a charter member of the Cedar Grove Ruritan Club. . He is survived by his daughter, Linda I. Rogers and his son Stephen F. Rogers. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Rich Rogers, two brothers, Linwood Josiah Rogers and Irving Hughes Rogers and three sisters: Irma Rogers Allen, Pauline Rogers Russell and Virginia Rogers Collett. The family will have visitation 1:30-2:45 PM at the church. The funeral service will be held 3 PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Mt. Adar Baptist Church by Pastor Susan Pasour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home, 6703 Corbett Ridge Rd., Mebane. The family would like to thank the home care providers and the members of the Corbett Ridge Community for all their love and support during the past several months. A special thank you to the members of Mt. Adar Baptist Church who loved and cared for Uncle Marvin during his 97 years. Memorials can be made to Mt.
