HILLSBOROUGH - Annie Margaret Roberts Thompson, 95, of Hillsborough passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at her residence. Born in Orange County on November 7, 1917 , she was the eldest child of the late Currie Paul Roberts and Alice Ray Roberts. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church her entire life. She served the Lord faithfully in many capacities with over forty years as church treasurer and custodian.
A loving mother and grandmother, Margaret is survived by her sons, Dr. James Thompson and wife, Betty of Durham, Rev. Larry Thompson and wife, Emily of Morganton, daughter, Debra Wilder and husband, Mark of Graham; grandchildren, Andy Thompson, Susan McConville, Bill Thompson, Heather Smith, and Catherine Mashburn, seven great grandchildren; sisters, Nell Loftis and Betty Stauffenberg and brother, Bryant Roberts, all of Durham and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil W. Thompson in 1987 to whom she was a devoted wife for 49 years. Also, sisters, Pauline Ellisor, Katherine Phillips, Naomi Apperson; brothers, Paul Roberts, Bobby Roberts, and Jimmy Roberts.
The family extends gratitude to Connie Flowers and Peggy Oxendine for the care they have given to Mrs. Margaret that has allowed her to remain in her beloved home over the past four years.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 14 at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Hillsborough with Rev. Bruce Brown and Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
