William Wyatt Bibb, 59, died Saturday February 15, 2014 at UNC Hospitals,
Chapel Hill. He was born in Atlanta Georgia on October 3, 1954 to Barbara
Nettles-Carlson and the lateTisdale Wyatt Bibb. His early childhood was
spent in Pensacola FL and Brigham City, UT before moving with his family to
Chapel Hill in 1964. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1972 and
later attended Mars Hill College. As a young adult he worked jobs in
construction, surveying, bicycle repair, retail, and food service. Club
Nova Community in Carrboro was his home away from home for many years.
Wyatt faced major mental and physical health challenges with courage and
perseverance. His schizoaffective disorder did not curb his curiosity or his
love of travel, music and art. He just kept on going, until his heart and
lungs gave out. Playing banjo and piano(especially his favorite Bach
partita), camping out in the mountains, exploring local country roads by
bike, motorcycle or car brought him joy. His warm heart, wide ranging
intellect, and love of all things beautiful are what will be remembered.
Wyatt was a loving son, brother, nephew, and especially cherished being an
uncle, and great-uncle. Survivors are his mother Barbara and stepfather
Curtis McLaughlin of Chapel Hill; sister Viki Bibb Lee(Roddy); niece Kristin
Carlson Lee and grandniece Scarlett Victoria Bermudez of Asheville; niece
Chelsea Lee Smith (Zafar) and grand nephews Zorion and Zavian, of Brisbane
Australia; stepsiblings Trish McLaughlin (Paul van Son), Gwenn McLaughlin
(Doug Feltman), Lianne McLaughlin (Larry Daughtridge); Craig McLaughlin and
their families. Also surviving are aunts Vicky Nettles Eby and Margaret
Nettles O'Reilly and cousins Brian and Eric Nelson, Andy and Steve O'Reilly
and their families. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alan Curtis Bibb and
