HILLSBOROUGH - John Taylor Bivins, Jr., (64) . Johnny died peacefully at Duke Medical Center on May 15th after suffering a severe stroke, surrounded by his wife and loving daughters. He was born July 24, 1948, to John Taylor Bivins, Sr. and Evelyn Nicholson Bivins Atkins. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Carolyn Bivins Welsh and Betty Bivins Holmes.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Bivins, daughters, Kristy Martin Mizzi (Tony), Jennifer Martin Shambley (Jeff) and three grandchildren, Stephen and Kelly Mizzi and Jessica Shambley; two nephews, Tommy and James Holmes and one niece, Kim Holmes Daniel.
A graduate of Atlantic Christian in Wilson, Johnny became a buyer for NC Mutual Drug Company after serving in the Army. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hillsborough. Johnny enjoyed riding his tractors, gardening and spending time with his family. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a kind, thoughtful and gentle man.
