Obituary of Edith Allene Walker

Edith "Allene" Walker Born February 11, 1941 Died April 1, 2014 Allene Walker was diagnosed on March 21, 2014 with advanced lung cancer. It was her wish to have hospice care at her daughter Susan's home, where she had lived the last four years. She was surrounded by family at her passing. She was pre-deceased by her parents; Edmond Hendricks Walker and Leola Doris White, her brothers; James, Cecil, and Clyde (Infant) and son-in-law; Donald Duncan. Surviving are: daughters; Diane McGhee (Phillip) Walker and Susan McGhee Duncan both of Hillsborough. Sisters; Frances Walker and Doris Finley both of Hillsborough. Grandchildren; Brandy Duncan (Shawn) Garrard, Angie Duncan (Erik) Cook, Jennifer Walker (Timmy) McCormick. Great-grandchildren; Samantha and Paige Garrard and Austin Cook. Along with her pet dog "Tink" who gave her unconditional love and companionship. Allene was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist. She was a seamstress and ran a cleaning service where she had many special customers who became her friends. A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 3 PM at Lawrence Road Baptist Church with visitation to greet the family in the fellowship hall afterwards.
