Gary Scott Jacob, 62, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2014, after a 3+ year battle with ALS. Gary was predeceased by his father, Allen Jules Jacob, brother, Michael A. Jacob (Jean) and sister, Connie J. Goodale (Wes). He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda J. Jacob, son, Allen J. Jacob, mother, Margaret H. Jacob, sisters-in-law Chris and Valerie, several nieces and nephews and a multitude of wonderful friends and co-workers.
Gary will most be remembered for his love of life, his ability to make everyone laugh, his love for bass fishing, especially after he discovered Lake El Salto in Mexico. He had a warm place in his heart for all living creatures, from rescuing turtles in the road to caring for the endless stream of kittens and cats appearing in our front yard. He was a devoted family man and loved us dearly.
Gary had an incredible work ethic and dedication to his company, Yellow Dot HVAC, which he founded. Working 13 hour days brought him much satisfaction and joy - many will attest that he was an exceptional man.
In lieu of flowers he asked that we post his favorite charity: Paws4Ever, 6311 Nicks Rd, Mebane, NC 27302 (919) 304-2300, www.paws4ever.org.
A very special thank you from our family to Duke Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr #101, Durham, NC 27704. (Dr. Turner, Danielle, Liz, Ellen & Tom) We will forever be grateful for your dedication and love, which enabled all of us to honor Gary's wishes.
A memorial service celebrating Gary's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 28th at Greystone Baptist Church, 2601 Hillsborough Road, Durham, NC, 27705, a reception to follow.
