Obituary of Mildred Gibbs Blackwelder

HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Mildred Gibbs Blackwelder, born in Durham on June 25, 1927, died June 4, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Hillsborough. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Gibbs, and her husband, Billy Blackwelder. She is survived by her children, June Blackwelder (Kurt Lent), Gayle Zales (Mike), Paul Blackwelder, and Lisa Blackwelder; her grandchildren, Josh Zales, Matt Zales, Sarabeth Zales, Jennifer Blackwelder Locklear (Amos), and Scott Laws; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bobbie Hunt. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 8th at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends immediately after the service in Strudwick Hall.
