HILLSBOROUGH - Miriam Agee Dobbins, 50, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Miriam was born December 12, 1962 in Murfreesboro, TN, and graduated from Mount Juliet High School in 1981. She received a scholarship to attend Union University in Jackson, TN, and graduated with honors from the School of Nursing in 1985. She worked for 16 years as a nurse in Tennessee and Texas, until she stopped to raise her three children. After her family moved to Hillsborough, NC, she began a new career by enrolling in Campbell University Divinity School. She graduated with highest honors May 10, 2013, completing a Master's degree in Christian Education. She has been serving as the Children's minister at Ringgold Baptist Church, Ringgold, VA and participating in the guardian ad litem program of Orange County, NC. Miriam was a loving wife and caring mother who sacrificed herself for the good of her family on a daily basis. She had a true heart for children's ministry and helped nurture the development of a host of children through her ministries at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Glenn Heights, TX, First Baptist Church Hillsborough, NC and Ringgold Baptist Church, Ringgold, VA. She liked to teach, to sing and mostly just to demonstrate through her actions that God loved them all. Miriam is survived by her husband of 21 years, Robert Lester Dobbins, and her three children: Jonathan Robert Dobbins, 19, Kaitlyn Rose Dobbins, 17, and Mary Elizabeth Dobbins, 14. She is preceded in death by her father, Reverend Robert Dewitt Agee, and is survived by her loving mother, Rose Marie Agee; her brother, Robert David Agee (wife Myra) of Donelson, TN; and sister, Denise Denise Gibson (husband James) of Lebanon, TN. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 11 AM at First Baptist Church Hillsborough, NC. Dr. Randy Carter will officiate. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 19th, from 6 to 8 PM at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NC. A private graveside service will be held for the family in Hickman, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the building program of First Baptist Church Hillsborough, 201 West King Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278. www.walkersfuneralservice.com
