William "Billy" Bancroft Ott

William “Billy” Bancroft Ott III, age 49, died on June 23, 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Billy was raised in Chapel Hill, NC by his parents, Jim and Sally Ott. From elementary school through Chapel Hill High School graduation, he was always surrounded by a group of very close friends.

Billy earned a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and received several technical certifications to foster his career in information technology (IT). After continuing to achieve positions of increasing responsibility in the financial sector in Charlotte, he earned his MBA degree. He was employed at TIAA.

Billy was a good man, a great son, brother, uncle and an amazing and loving father. He loved racing and maintaining fast cars, the outdoors, the mountains, and the water. The car track, hiking trails, biking, kayaking, and paddle boarding were his happy places. He loved music and almost always had his tunes playing. Most importantly he loved his family and friends and adored his daughter Sara.

Survivors include his daughter Sara, his parents Jim and Sally, his sister Kathryn and his nieces Lauren and Adriana.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 27, at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. After a graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery, the family will welcome friends and family to a reception at the home.
