William Abernathy

William "Gordon" Abernathy (1940 - 2014) ABERNATHY, William Gordon, 74 of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He was born in Chapel Hill to William and Edna Abernathy. Beloved husband of Gloria. Devoted father of Michael and his wife Mia. Loving grandfather of Dylan and Harrison. Gordon served in the Air Force as an Air Policeman from 1963-1966. He was employed by the US Postal Service for 35 years as well as being Coach and Assistant Coach for several Carrboro Little League Teams through the mid 1980's. The family will receive relatives and friends at Walker's Funeral Home 120 W Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 on Friday, September 19 from 11:00am-1:00pm, with a church service to take place at Bethel Baptist Church at 2:00pm. For those of you who knew Gordon, you will undoubtedly remember him as a selfless, kind man who made a lasting impression on everyone he ever met. He will be missed.
