William "Bill" Andersen Olsen, Jr. (88) - Chapel Hill native and retired local realtor of over 50 years of service, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Carolina Meadows skilled nursing care facility. The son of the late William and Sarah Olsen, also of Chapel Hill, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel D. Olsen. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Abbott Olsen of Chapel Hill, NC and son, Rev. Billy A. Olsen, daughter-in-law Elaine Olsen of Laurinburg, NC and grandchildren Nicholas Woods [wife Dr. Chelsea Woods] of Blacksburg, VA; Colton Woods of Garner, NC; Jadon Olsen and Amelia Olsen of Laurinburg, NC. Bill had a great love for people; for music; and for life. He was a 1951 graduate of Carolina with a degree in Geology, a veteran of the US Army and a fixture in Chapel Hill and Orange County real estate for over 50 years. Arrangements are being handled by Walkers Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. His memorial service will be held Friday, June 23 at 2:00pm at University United Methodist Church 150 E. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to University UMC Pastor's Discretionary Fund for special/missional needs.
