Vincent Zhu

Vincent Zhu, beloved son, brother, and grandson passed away in Arlington, VA at the age of 24. He is survived by his parents Yuao Zhu and Yahui Li, and his sister Amanda Zhu. Vincent was born on May 5, 1995 in Albany, NY to Yuao Zhu and Yahui Li. He spent his early childhood in Albany, NY and Philadelphia, PA. In 2002, he moved to Cary, NC and attended Green Hope Elementary and Davis Drive Middle School. After moving to Chapel Hill in 2009, he graduated with the class of 2013 from Chapel Hill High School. As a child, Vincent enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, Taekwondo and piano. In his teenage and youth years, he enjoyed gaming, watching movies, playing chess, and exercising. Vincent was a brilliant math student, serving as presidents of his high school’s math club and physics club, as well as participated and won in various math competitions. He was a very driven student, attended Duke University, and later transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill where he earned his BS in Math and Statistics double majors. Vincent was known for his perseverance and was very passionate about coding. Though difficult, he self-taught himself computer science and in months became a software engineer interning with Amazon and CapitalOne. We remember Vincent as loving, honest, loyal, driven, and intelligent. Whether it be flying across the country to see his friends, or simply paying for his sister’s food at their favorite frozen yogurt shop, Vincent always showcased his loving heart to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his close friends and family and will be deeply missed by all. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and we know that his soul rests peacefully in Heaven with God forever. A gravesie service was held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:30pm at Markham Memorial Gardens. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill has been entrusted to care for the Zhu family.
