Thomas Wheeley

Mr. Thomas Vernon Wheeley, II, 51, died Monday, July 2, 2018. He was a native of Hillsborough and attended the Orange County Schools and the Alamance County Schools. At the age of 17 he began his career in construction. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working with wood and making things. Thomas enjoyed fishing, doing cowboy re-enactments, and cherished spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. They always brought a smile to his face. He had a love for playing guitars with his family and friends. Surviving are his daughter, Amanda Alease Wheeley; sons, Julian Thomas Wheeley (Maddy) and Travis Alton Wheeley; grandson, Reece Joseph Wheeley; granddaughter, Aubrey Lynn Roberts; sister, Teresa Roberts (David); nieces, nephew, four aunts, one uncle, and former wife, Vickie Gault Wheeley. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas V. Wheeley, Sr. and Patricia Kolz and sister, Deborah Riley. A memorial service was held 2 PM Saturday, July 7, 2018, in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsborough, officiaited by Pastor Sue Eldon. A private burial will be held later. Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is assisting the Wheeley family.
