Thelma Brokaw

Flip Brokaw Mrs. Thelma Irene Brokaw, 93, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Carolina Meadows in Chapel Hill. 'Flip' was born on July 4, 1924 on her family farm near Vincennes, IN, to the late Otis and Amanda Jordan. After working for the Naval Shipyard in Evansville, IN and an office in Detroit, MI during WWII, Flip became a devoted wife and mother, who filled their home with love and laughter. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Hal; son, Randy, his children, Andrea, and Jami, and her husband, Chris; and their children Amelia and Payton; daughter, Jennie and her husband Jeff, their daughters, Kate, and her husband Chris, their children Tyler and Avery., Marcie, and her husband Pat, and their son Tanner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and three sisters, as well as her daughter in law, Barbara Brokaw. There will be a Celebration Service on July 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, in Southern Village, followed by a reception in the Ascension Hall at church. There will also be a Gathering Reception at Carolina Meadows for those who are unable to attend the church service on June 29, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is assisting the Brokaw family.
