Tazuko Neville

Tazuko Neville passed away in her home on July 28, 2021 in Chapel Hill, NC. She was 93. Mrs. Neville was born on April 8, 1928 in Yokohama, Japan to her parents, Kenjiro and Shige Iwasaki and survived her teen years along with her sister and brothers as WWII raged through the country. She later met her husband, T. Reid Neville Jr, in Japan while he was in the Army. They married in 1956 and lived in Germany, Japan, Hawaii and several other states until his military retirement and returned to his hometown of Carrboro, NC. She was a devoted wife and was by his side constantly during his long illness. She was a loving mother and doted on her two grandchildren as well as the granddogs. Mrs. Neville is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Joel Schearer of Chapel Hill, daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ron Cooley of Hillsborough, and her grandchildren, Joseph Reid Schearer and Michelle Cooley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Reid Neville, Jr, and her parents and siblings in Japan. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, August 1 at 11 a.m. at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill has been entrusted with caring for the Neville family.
