CHAPEL HILL Sarah Anne Denny, 57, of Chapel Hill, died Monday evening, November 3, 2014, after her struggles with ALS. Visitation will be Friday, November 7, at 10:00 AM at Walker's Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 in the chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. A native of Chapel Hill, Sarah Anne was the daughter of Emery B. Denny Jr. and Betty S. Denny. She was a 1975 graduate of Chapel Hill High School. She worked for over 18 years as an emergency dispatcher with the Carrboro and Chapel Hill Police Depts., Orange County 911 as well as 8 years as a receptionist at the Carol Woods Retirement Community. Throughout her life she was a avid lover and rider of horses, raised many cats, planted numerous gardens, and enjoyed camping, fishing and baseball. Sarah Anne is survived by her partner of 18 years Susan Pendergraph, her brother, Victor Denny and his wife Terry, her sister, Elizabeth Denny and her cat, Cletus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Durham Rescue Mission or any animal protection agency.
