Sally Ferguson Lovingood

Sally Ferguson Lovingood of Chapel Hill passed away Friday February 14, 2025 surrounded by her children after a brief illness. Born and raised in western North Carolina, Sally moved to Chapel Hill in the late 1950's with her husband, Bill. The two settled into the college town and raised their four children Joe (Carol), John (Mary), James (Joanne) and Angela (Joey). Sally worked briefly for the University but after the birth of their second child, decided that home with her children was where her time would best be spent. 

A dedicated attendee of all youth athletics she spent many spring afternoons on the sidelines or bleachers watching her children. Sally was a fantastic cook and welcomed friends and family to her table at any time. The home was filled with love and a variety of plants that she nurtured as well. An avid reader, any sunny (warm) afternoon might find her on the patio enjoying a good book (and a nap). 

Her love of reading was overshadowed by the love of her children, grandchildren (6) and great grandchildren (5) who miss her dearly. 

There will be a service to celebrate and honor the life of Sally at The University Baptist Church 100 S. Columbia Street Chapel Hill on Saturday April 5, 2025 at noon.
