Ruth Woods

Hillsborough- Mary Ruth Cook Woods Ruth Cook Woods, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Those who knew and loved her called her "Dolly". She was born in Orange County on August 23, 1924 to the late Charles Thomas Cook and Mary Elizabeth Hoyle Cook and was a resident and citizen of the County throughout her lifetime. She was a retired employee of Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. She was a contributing citizen to her community, traveling the world, but always leaving her heart at home with her family, friends and community she cherished. Most importantly, she was a "pillar" of support, strength and encouragement to her family and loved ones. She will be missed greatly and forever loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Clayton Cook, Dee Cook and May Cook Merritt. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her husband Wilford Henry Woods, and children, John Michael Woods, Brenda Joyce Woods Taylor and Edwin Kirk Woods. She is survived by her son, Robert Terry Woods and grandchildren, Leslie Ruth Woods, Erika Oakley and husband Shane, Eric Taylor and wife Stephanie, Brian Woods and wife Hannah, Amanda Woods Bohall and husband Cody and Allie Woods and wife Jennifer and additionally, 12 great grandchildren with whom her pride and love over flowed. The Memorial Services will be held at Walkers Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsborough at 2:30pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015. A visitation will precede the service from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Directly following the memorial service there will be a graveside committal at New Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
