Mr. Raymond Dennis deFriess, 60, went home to the Lord on October 28. A native of Rochester, New York, Raymond moved to Chapel Hill in 1960. He graduated from Chapel Hill High in 1971. After high school, he began a 44 year career as a service engineer on X-Ray equipment, finishing as a senior service engineer at Radon Medical Imaging. Raymond dedicated over 40 years of service to South Orange Rescue Squad, serving as chief for 25 years. He was an active member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. His favorite thing to do was cook for those he loved. Raymond is survived by: his wife of 29 years, Pamela Jenkins deFriess, Mebane, NC; his daughter, Natalie deFriess Rigsbee (Kevin), Haw River, NC; his son, Jonathan Ray deFriess, Mebane, NC; his mother, Lynda Smith deFriess, Asheboro, NC; brothers: Fred deFriess, Robert deFriess, Asheboro, NC, and James deFriess, Morganton, NC; sisters: Frances Fier, Taunton, MN, and Donna Evans, Pittsboro, NC; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Paul and Doris Cook, Mebane, NC. He is predeceased by his father, Francis Byers deFriess. The funeral service is at Cane Creek Baptist Church Friday November 1, at 12:30 PM.
