Pauline Newman

Pauline Shorter Newman, age 90, died in her sleep on Friday, December 4. She was a resident of Elmcroft Assisted Living Community and a member of Hillsborough First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Before retirement, she worked as an office manager at "The News of Orange" newspaper for about 40 years. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Newman; parents, Joseph O. Shorter and Brooksie Minter Shorter; brother Andrew Shorter and sister Ethel Cofran. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Glenn (Dianne) Newman of Durham and Bruce (Carolyn) Newman of Hillsborough, three grandchildren, Lee Newman (Amber), Lisa Newman (husband, Parrish James), and Jon Newman (Holly), She had two great granddaughters, Morgan Newman and Katelyn James. A graveside memorial service is planned at Lawson Cemetery in Eden, North Carolina. Walker's Funeral Home is assisting the family.
