Patricia Marshall Sheffey

Chapel Hill, NC Patricia Ruth Marshall Sheffey, a Chapel Hill, North Carolina resident born in Cedar Grove, Louisiana to the late Robert and Winnie Marshall, on October 13, 1926, died March 12,2014 at the home of her daughter, attended by her loving family and UNC Hospice. She attended Tulane University after World War II and was one of the first twenty-five women to enroll in the previously all-male university. There she met Clifford Sheffey, now deceased, and they married in 1946. Pat had her own accounting business in West Palm Beach, Florida until she retired in 1988, at which point she and Clifford moved to Burnsville, North Carolina. In 1999 she and her husband relocated to Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and she moved to Carolina Meadows after his death in 2003. A devoted mother, grandmother and friend, Pat was also a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Her life was lived in a giving and loving way with a patient and generous spirit. Se is survived by her daughter, Sandra Vander Clute Bazley, son, Robert Sheffey, and his wife, Nancy; and by her grandchildren, Ted Vander Clute, Jeff Vander Clute, Vaughan Marshall Sheffey and Aubrie Sheffey. She will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to UNC Hospice, P.O. Box 1077, Pittsboro, North Carolina 27314. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is serving the Sheffey family.
