Melenda (Nena) Williams Bridges After a long and too often difficult battle with cancer, Nena passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 53. She passed peacefully at home while sleeping and surrounded by her family. Arrangements are incomplete at this time; but, Walker Funeral Homes and Crematory in Mebane, NC will handle the service. There will only be a private viewing period for the family and select friends prior to the cremation service. A native of George County, Mississippi, Nena was born on December 27, 1964, the daughter of Alva Williams. She was married on February 14, 1992 to her best friend, David Earl Bridges. They relocated to North Carolina in 2004 and settled in Efland. She loved praising Jesus every day and was content taking care of her home and spoiling her husband and children. Survivors include her husband, David Earl Bridges of Efland, NC; 1 daughter: Whitney Graves (Caleb) of Prentiss, MS; 2 sons: Zachary Bridges (Danielle) of Apex, NC and Seth Bridges (Jeshuron) of Efland, NC; 2 nieces, Kristin Walters (JW) of Lucedale, MS; Adrianna Williams of Lucedale, MS; 3 nephews, Joseph Davis (Jamie) of Lucedale, MS; Cody Davis of Lucedale, MS; Austen Williams of Lucedale, MS; 4 grandchildren (Dylan, Eli, Madison and Samantha), 2 great nieces (Bethany, Destany), and 3 great nephews (Tristen, Trey and Jeremiah). Also surviving Nena are 2 sisters, Ruth Davis (Mitchell) of Lucedale, MS and Mazie Garcia (Sebastian) of Grand Bay, AL; a brother, Benjamin Williams of Lucedale and her mother-in-law, Virginia Bridges of Prentiss, MS. All were very dear to her. She was adored and loved by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by father-in-law Robert Edward (Buck) Bridges in 1996, her son Robert Edward (Robbie) Bridges in 1999, and her mother Alva Lucille Goff Williams in 2009.
