Mary Johnson

Mary Evelyn Watkins Johnson died Monday, October 15th, 2018 at Carol Woods retirement community, Chapel Hill, NC. She was born on June 9th, 1928 in Ann Arbor Michigan, daughter of Leonard Lionel Watkins and Katherine Smith Watkins. She married Dr. Wendell Johnson, mathematics professor, on December 28th, 1948. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and her masters degree in library science from Kent State University in Ohio. She served as Head Librarian of the Portage County library system in Aurora, Ohio. She is survived by her four daughters, Christine Johnson of Sonoma, California; Rachel Johnson of Bolinas, California; Martha Johnson of Black Mountain, North Carolina; Sarah Johnson of Gex, France; a grandson Orie Johnson-Young of Bolinas, California; a sister Nancy Zimmerman of Severna Park, Maryland, and a brother Kermit Watkins of Altadena, California.
