Mary Swistok Goetze

June 22, 1944 — December 3, 2020

Mary (Swistok) Goetze died on December 3, 2020 after a long illness. She was 76. Mary was born on June 22, 1944 in Passaic, New Jersey to Irene and Harold Swistok and was the eldest of four children. Mary was a retired bookkeeper who enjoyed collecting hand made quilts and collectables of all kinds. She enjoyed communicating with her friends and relatives. She moved from Blairstown, NJ where she was active in St. Judes Catholic Church in Blairstown and St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, PA. She had always taken a keen interest in providing food for the needy. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her sister Kathleen Kroll Daniels and her brother Harlod Swistok Mary is survived by her husband Robert and brother Joseph Swistok, her nieces Michelle Mehr Dexheimer, Christine Kroll, Katy Murphy Ehrick, Melissa Kroll and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A private viewing will be held for the immediate family Sunday December 7, 2020 at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at The Newman Catholic Community at UNC. Interment will occur at Wake Memorial Park following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to Chatham Outreach Alliance (CORA) at corafoodpantry.org.
