Mary Cox Smith

Hillsborough - Mary Elsie Cox Smith died Tuesday, September 30, 2014. She was born in Chatham County to the late Mary Kate Willett and James Cox. She graduated from Chatham High School and attended UNC. She was owner and operator of Elsie C. Smith Agency in Hillsborough. Surviving are her daughter, Amanda Smith-Berry (Willliam), her son, Robert Y. Smith, Jr., her grandson, Roberts Y. Smith, her brother, Archie Michael Beal and two sisters: Rachel B. Smith and Opal B. Masood. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Earl Beal and sister, Hazel Fields. The graveside service will be held 1 PM Friday in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
