Mary Briggs

MEBANE - Mrs. Mary Ellen Vaughan Briggs, 93, formerly of 305 East Clay Street, Mebane, NC, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at Alamance Health Care Center. Mrs. Briggs was born on December 1, 1918 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Ellis Andrew and Mary Powell Vaughan. She was the widow of the late Clifton William Briggs. Mary was a former member of Efland Baptist Church and retired after 15 years as a caretaker for the Sam Pender Family Center. She is survived by her daughter: Barbara B. Riggs and husband, Charles of Mebane; sister: Leathia Chrismon Moore of Danville; grandchildren: Angela Reiss and Loretta Lynn Fosdick, both of Monks Corner, SC and Melissa Dawn Roberson of Mebane; 4 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren also survives. Mary was preceded in death by one daughter: Doris Fay B. Liggins and one grandson: Robert John Driggers. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2012 prior to services being held at 2:00 pm at Walker's Funeral Home of Mebane by the Rev. Jessie Raines.
