Marvin Doby

MEBANE - Mr. Marvin Osler Doby, 93, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born in Surry County and lived most of his life in Mebane. He was employed by Whites Furniture Co. for over 50 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters: Pat Parker (Cliff), Georgia, and Janice Chappell (Mark), Graham, one son, Wayne Doby (Gloria), Mebane, one sister, Lexie Jacobs (Jake), Mebane, three brothers Everett Doby (Annie), Gurney Doby (Mary), and Paul Doby, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Paul Doby and his wife, Cora Bell Lewis Doby, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 AM Friday. Burial will be in Hebron United Methodist Cemetery. Walkersfuneralservice.com
