Marvin Cornett

January 14, 1936 — February 23, 2025

Snow Camp

Marvin Tip Cornett, 89, of Snow Camp, North Carolina died Sunday, February 23, 2025, at home. He was surrounded by the love of his family in his final weeks. Marvin was born on January 14, 1936, in Letcher County, KY and was the son of the late John D. and Lou Cinda Cornett. He grew up in a house of fourteen family members and knew first-hand the hard work it took to keep food on the table. He was a carpenter, like his father and his sons after him, who worked with his hands all his life building homes, furniture, or whatever was needed.

He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to take his grandchildren out on a boat, cast a rod in the water to catch the family’s next fish fry, or go hunting deep in the woods for deer, bear, and more. He had a spirit of adventure leading his grandchildren on many adventures in caves, into the woods, and through waterfalls. In his later years, he served as a volunteer firefighter for his Snow Camp community.

He was raised in the Baptist Church and was baptized into the Lord at age 16. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evalene Caudill Cornett, his son, Don K. Cornett, two great grandsons, Evan Cornett and Ryan Cornett, and eleven siblings. He is survived by his sons: Glenn C. Cornett and wife, Cathy of Mebane and Darvin L. Cornett and wife, Donna of Snow Camp; sister-in-law: Betty Tingle of Elon; four grandchildren: John Cornett and wife, Beth of Burlington, Nicole Cornett of Burlington, Marc Cornett and wife, Brittany of Stedman, and Rebekah Dawkins and husband, Lance of Burlington; and five beloved great grandchildren Ethan Cornett, Gavin Cornett, Jax Dawkins, Nate Dawkins, and Erin Cornett.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 1st at Walker's Funeral Home of Mebane. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Community Cemetery in Angier (Johnson County). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Snow Camp Volunteer Fire Department, 8408 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349.
