Marie Butler

Marie Butler was born September 27, 1931 and passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022 the most beautiful, sunny warm day, her kind of day. Marie was a homemaker for most of her life, planting gardens, canning food from the garden and always having a home cooked meal each night for her family. Her family loved her home made biscuits, chicken and dumplings and brunswick stew. After her children were grown she went to work and retired from the Chapel Hill -Carrboro City School System in the cafeteria at Guy B. Phillips Jr. High School. One of her greatest joys later in life was taking care of her grandchildren.



Marie was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Butler and her grandson Logan Tilley. She is survived by her children Robbie Butler (Elaine), Bernie Butler, Cindy Dorthy (Chris), Aaron Butler and daughter in law Judy Butler. Grandchildren, Kristin Shaw (David), Jenny Butler, Shelby Harris (Brandon), Garrett Dorthy and Darby Butler. Great Grandchildren, Peyton Shaw, Reese Shaw, Gage Tilley and Oaklyn Tilley.



A graveside service will be held on June 25, 2022 at 2 pm, Bethel Baptist Church, Bethel Hickory Grove Church Rd. Chapel Hill, NC. Visitation and fellowship with the family will follow immediately after the service at the church.



Flowers are acceptable or memorials in Marie's name can be made to Meals on Wheels, Orange County, NC.
