Margaret Ann Robinson Waldrup

March 11, 1951 — January 17, 2025

Chapel Hill

Margaret Waldrup of Chapel Hill and Greensboro, NC died suddenly after a short illness, Friday morning, January 17, 2025, in an ICU at the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Mrs. Waldrup was born March 11, 1951 in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Raymond A. and Ann (Stanford) Robinson. She was wed on Saturday morning, September 9, 1972, in the Methodist Student Center of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, to her husband of 52 years, J. Charles Waldrup.

Mrs. Waldrup received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in drawing, in 1973, from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville where she majored in art and minored in art history. After graduation she worked to help put her husband, Charles, through law and graduate schools. She enjoyed her role as homemaker starting in the fall of 1981. She also enjoyed working to better the community, especially in the annual ABC sale of the Chapel of the Cross (Chapel Hill) and the PTA Thrift Store for numerous years. She especially relished the role of mother to her beloved only child, Brian. She had an ever-present smile, great sense of humor, and was consistently pleasant and upbeat.

In addition to her husband, Charles, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her adoring son, Brian Chandler Stanford Waldrup, and his fiancé, Cassandra Brownell, who she already loved and considered a daughter-in-law; her sister, Sara Robinson Kennedy of Murfreesboro, TN, and her nephew, Allen Kennedy, of Littleton, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond A. Robinson, who died in September 12, 2007, and her mother, Ann S. Robinson, who died in January 31, 2017.

The family of Mrs. Waldrup will pay their final respects with a funeral service on Friday, March 14, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, 304 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Her remains will be interred on the church grounds.
