Margaret Riley

HILLSBOROUGH - Miss Margaret Lucille Riley, 88, passed away peacefully at The Brian Center in Durham on October 4, 2014, just 4 days shy of her 89th birthday. Miss Riley was a graduate of Hillsborough High School, hostess for 20 years at The Colonial Inn, cashier for 10 years at Jack's Shack in Hillsborough, and rounded out her career as a clerk at the ABC Store in Mebane for 15 years until retirement. She is survived by her 2 brothers; James A. Riley (Ivaleen), Hillsborough, Marvin Riley (Peggy), Hillsborough, and 3 sisters; Shirley Somers, Fredericksburg, VA, Carolyn Webb, Hillsborough, Brenda Horner, Hurdle Mills, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William Parrish Riley and Margaret (May) Walker Riley, and her brother William (Billy) Riley. A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm, Tuesday at Walkers Funeral Home in Hillsborough. Burial will follow in New Sharon Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:15pm prior to the service at Walkers. Pastor Daniel Gregory of Mars Hill Baptist Church will be conducting the service. The family extends their appreciation to the staff of The Brian Center of Durham who cared for Miss Riley with dignity and respect over the last few years of her life.
