Loney Mondie

Loney Edward Mondie, 82, of Saxapahaw, NC passed away on May 27, 2015 in Durham VA Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1933 to the late Canary Gentry Mondie and Sam Edward Mondie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Brent Edward Mondie and brother, James D. Mondie. Loney was an ordained minister and was a veteran of the US Army having served during Korea receiving the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star. Those left to cherish him memory are wife, Joyce Mondie; children, Sandra Irene Culler and her husband Gary, Sheila Ann Mondie and her husband Joseph Kirkpatrick, James Brad Mondie, Carla Shannon Burns and her husband George; sisters, Dorothy May, Faye Strader; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Service will be 3 PM Sunday May 31 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Mebane with Pastor David Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Lighthouse Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM until the time of the service at the church. Walker's Funeral Home of Mebane is in charge of arrangements.
