Chapel Hill – Mrs. Loisann Maria Moran, 73, wife of James Joseph Moran, died Wednesday morning at Duke University Hospital. Mrs. Moran was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduating from St. Hubert’s High School. After graduating, she was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad, it was there she met her future husband. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 1st of this year. While in Maryland, she taught preschool as well as 1st through 3rdgrade. She was self-employed as an Electrolysis Technician. After relocation to Chapel Hill in 1998, she was employed as the Assistant Director for Adventure Aftercare. Mrs. Moran enjoyed arts & crafts, and was very artistic, creating beautiful pieces out of anything. In addition to her husband James, Mrs. Moran is survived by her daughters, Kelly Ann Moran, of Hernando, MS, Theresa Ann Ponton, and her husband, Anthony, of Chester, MD, Kathleen “K.C.” Moran, of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Joseph Franklin Moran, Kevin Brandon Moran, Allison Marguerite Calisto, Lhayla JoAnn Lara, Aiyana Marguerite Lara, John Xavier DeMarco, Blaze Tanner Calhoun; and great grandchildren, Jayden Alexander Calisto, Carson Marie Leonard. A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin Street, Chapel Hill.
