Mr. Leon Elmond Johnson, Jr. a resident of Durham passed away quietly at his home on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the age of 69. After being bedridden for nearly four years he was mostly paralyzed due to his back problems and after a third heart attack in April was too tired to go on. John had friends who called him “John” and others who called him “Leon”. Either way he was a wonderful man. He enjoyed his 27 years at the State Fairground Flea Market where he was the arbitrator of all disputes, baby holder, wise man and comedian. He was well loved and will be sorely missed. A memorial service for Leon (John) Johnson was held Wednesday, June 5 from 4:30 - 7:00 pm at Walker's Funeral Home, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is caring for the Johnson family.
