Orange County Cedar Grove Ward, Laura Frances Pope - Mrs. Laura Frances Pope Ward, 88, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 in Duke Medical Center. She graduated from Aycock High School and attended business school. She devoted her working life by working with her late husband, Melvin Ward, on the family farm and in their home as a homemaker. She was a devoted member of Mt. Adar Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother (MaMa) and friend. Surviving are two sons, Dennis Ward and Russell Ward and wife Kim, both of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren: Kim Ward, Graham, Lisa Pore (Ricky), Burlington, Chris Ward (Laurie), Mebane, and Kyle Ward, Cedar Grove; two great grandchildren, Baleigh and Collins; and one sister, Peggy Rogers, Madison. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday in Mt. Adar Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday in Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough.
