Kathleen Mayse

Mrs. Kathleen Porter Mayse, 75, died Friday at UNC Hospitals. Mrs. Mayse was born in Durham, NC to the late Seth Owen and Tiny Maynard Porter. She was raised and educated in Durham. She was employed with Erwin Mills (Burlington Industries) before going to work at Golden Belt Manufacturing, where she met her late husband, Bernard Utah Mayse. She was also employed for a short while with Kress Department Store. Mrs. Mayse was a loving and caring mother, raising three boys. In addition to being a housewife, she also enjoyed bowling, competeing in several leagues with her sister. She is survived by her sons, Brian M. Mayse, and his fiancee, Crystal Herndon, of Chapel Hill, Warren R. Pittman, Jr., and his fiancee, Cynthia Spivey, of Graham, NC; stepson, Bernard Wayne Mayse, and his wife, Teresa, of Chatham County, NC; sisters, Shirley P. Spalding, of Butner, NC, Alma P. Grimsley, of Rolesville, NC; grandchildren, Ashley, Krystle, Little Ray, Anthony, Michael, Lillie, Christian, Little Brian; and eleven great granchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral Home, Chapel Hill. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The famil will receive visitors prior to the service, from 11:00am to 1:00 am in the funeral home.
