Joyce Ward

Joyce Boone Ward of Carrboro, passed away February 15, 2020 at UNC Hospice after a brief illness. She was born on August 13, 1930 in Chapel Hill, and was a lifelong resident of Carrboro. Joyce retired from the UNC Phone Company and BellSouth after 42 years of service. Joyce is survived by her son Scott of Carrboro, niece Suzanne Reiber of Cape Carteret. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie, mother Emma Boone Parker, father John Darrell Boone, and brother John Boone. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 19 at 11:00 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Hwy 86, Chapel Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joyce Ward to UNC Inpatient Hospice, 100 Roundtree Way, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or Carrboro Methodist Church, 200 Hillsborough Rd, Carrboro, NC 27510. The Ward family is under the care of Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill.
