Joseph Robertson

Joseph H. Robertson, Jr. MEBANE — Mr. Joseph H. Robertson, Jr., 68, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday March 25, 2014, in Mebane, NC. He was the son of Joseph H. Robertson, Sr., and Kathleen G. Robertson, both deceased, and husband of Frankie W. Robertson for 51 years. Joe earned his associate degree from Durham Tech, his bachelor's degree from Shaw University and also received training from UNC's Institute of Government. Joe was retired from the Chapel Hill Fire Department after more than 31 years of devoted service. He was also retired from the Florence (SC) Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief for 10 years. He received his Basic Law Enforcement Training certification, and had served as a reserve police officer with the Chapel Hill Police Department. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Robertson; sons, Joseph H. Robertson III (Angela), Douglas Robertson (Sandra), Danny Collins; daughter, Beth Freeman (Jerry); grandchildren, Stephanie Robertson (Donnie), Alex Freeman, Joseph Robertson IV, Kathryn Robertson, Walker Freeman and Carson Shatley; brother, Charles Robertson. Funeral services will be conducted at Walkers Funeral Home in Chapel Hill on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2pm, with burial to follow in Westwood cemetery in Carrboro. The family will receive friends at Walkers Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UNC Hospice Care and/or NC chapter of Alzheimer's Association
