Jose Da Costa

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Josè Leonardo Ferreire Da Costa Monday, April 1, 2019 after reaching the age of 78 years old. After months of failing health, he died peacefully within his home in Graham, North Carolina with his Beloved wife and children by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Evangelina Da Costa for 49 years. Loving father of Lionel Da Costa, Alice Da Costa, and Nilda Gunn. He was the proud grandfather to Paul Everette, Ariel Riddle, Emily McCray, Alex Terrell, Veronica Gunn, Tyrin Terrell, Javon Gunn, Isabelle Da Costa, and Josiah Gunn. He was above all passionate and proud of his great-grandchildren Alaina Clowers, Micah Clowers, and Jackson McCray. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was the son of the late Josè Da Costa Amaral and Maria Dos Anjos Ferreira of San Miguel, Açores Portugal, predeceased by sister Adriana Alves and brother Carlos Da Costa. He was the brother of the late Alda Brasil. He was a proud permanent resident of the United States for 52 years and retired from Duke University Hospital after years of dedicated service. He was a firm but understanding gentleman holding the highest integrity in family life. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Walker’s Funeral Home, 204 N. Church St., Hillsborough, NC 27278 on Thursday, April 4th, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
