Jean Johnson Smith

Jean Johnson Smith, 73, of Hillsborough, passed away Saturday January 30, 2021 after a battle with cancer. Jean was born at Duke University Hospital on September, 3, 1947. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Martin Daniel “Red” Johnson and Thelma Cox Johnson, of Hillsborough. Jean worked for the Durham Police Department, as well as several electronics corporations in Northern Virginia as Senior Buyer and Director of Purchasing; organizing and presenting communication trade show exhibits in Switzerland, France, and Las Vegas Nevada. She loved vacationing at both the mountains and beaches of NC; and, especially loved fishing from a pier. She also loved listening and dancing to classic rock and country music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Jean is survived by her son, Jay Turner (Annaliese), and grandson Jayme, of Hillsborough; son Brian Smith (Beth) and grandson Logan, of Sparks, Maryland. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on February 19, 2021 at Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough with Pastor Brad Williams officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm-2pm with a graveside service following afterwards at Hillsborough Town Cemetery.
